Community Support Programs

Strengthening Communities Through Maternal Health Support

Healthy communities begin with healthy mothers and children. Our Community Support Programs focus on creating strong support systems that help women receive the care, education, and assistance they need throughout pregnancy and childbirth.

At Midwife Empowerment Initiative, we work closely with local leaders, healthcare workers, families, and trained community midwives to improve maternal health services and awareness within communities.

Our community support initiatives include:

  • Maternal health outreach programs
  • Home visits and follow-up support
  • Community health education forums
  • Safe motherhood awareness campaigns
  • Health workshops and training sessions
  • Referral support for mothers needing medical attention
  • Emotional and social support for pregnant women and new mothers

We believe that community involvement is essential in reducing maternal and newborn risks. Through partnerships, education, and local engagement, we continue to promote safer deliveries, healthier families, and stronger communities across Kenya.

Our goal is to ensure that every mother receives compassionate care, reliable support, and the opportunity to experience safe motherhood regardless of her location or background.

Midwife Training Materials

Empowering Community Midwives With Modern Skills

Traditional and community birth attendants continue to play an important role in many Kenyan communities, especially in remote areas where healthcare facilities may be difficult to access. At Midwife Empowerment Initiative, we recognize their contribution and work to strengthen their capacity through modern maternal healthcare training.

Our Midwife Training program equips community midwives and birth attendants with practical knowledge and updated skills that improve the safety and quality of maternal care they provide.

Training areas include:

  • Safe and hygienic delivery practices
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Maternal and newborn emergency recognition
  • Referral procedures and emergency response
  • Prenatal and postnatal care
  • Basic newborn care and breastfeeding support
  • Maternal health education and counseling

We also encourage collaboration between trained birth attendants and healthcare facilities to improve referrals and access to professional medical support during emergencies.

By combining traditional caregiving experience with modern healthcare knowledge, we help create safer childbirth experiences for mothers and babies across Kenya.

Maternal Health Awareness

Promoting Healthy Mothers and Healthy Communities

Maternal health plays a critical role in the wellbeing of families and communities across Kenya. At Midwife Empowerment Initiative, we are committed to improving awareness and access to essential maternal healthcare information, especially in underserved and rural areas where many women face challenges accessing quality healthcare services.

Our Maternal Health Awareness program focuses on educating mothers, families, and communities on the importance of safe pregnancy practices, skilled childbirth support, and postnatal care. Through community outreach, health talks, and educational sessions, we help women understand how to protect their health and the health of their babies during pregnancy and childbirth.

We provide guidance on:

  • Importance of antenatal clinic visits
  • Proper nutrition during pregnancy
  • Safe delivery preparation
  • Recognizing danger signs during pregnancy
  • Newborn care and breastfeeding
  • Hygiene and infection prevention
  • Postnatal care for mothers and babies

By increasing maternal health awareness, we empower women to make informed decisions and encourage communities to support safe motherhood practices that reduce preventable maternal and newborn complications.
